What is bookmatch?
Bookmatch pieces are made in pairs. The veining on one piece is the mirror image of the veining on the next, so when you set them side by side the pattern opens like the pages of a book and meets in one continuous line. It is how designers lay real marble and onyx slabs on a feature wall, and porcelain and sintered stone now give the same look without the cost, weight and upkeep of natural stone.

Two ways to get the look
- 24 x 48 in bookmatch porcelain tile. Each case holds matched A and B pieces. Lay A and B next to each other and the veins meet in the middle. Easy to carry and install like any large-format tile.
- Bookmatch sintered stone slabs (48 x 110 in, 63 x 126 in, 64 x 127 in). Large, thin panels cut in sequence from the same block (the block number is in the name), so neighbouring slabs mirror each other. Fewer joints for a seamless wall, shower or fireplace surround.

Where it works best
Feature and TV walls, shower walls, fireplace surrounds, bathroom vanity walls, entry floors and anywhere one large, symmetrical pattern should be the centre of the room.
Before you order
- Plan the layout first. Decide where the mirror line falls (usually the centre of the wall or the fireplace) and count pieces in A/B pairs.
- Order everything at once so all pieces come from the same production run, plus about 10% extra for cuts.
- Order a sample to see the colour and finish in your own light.
- Large pieces need a flat wall or floor and an installer who works with large-format tile or slabs.
